Honour Roll
The Honour Roll is an award and recognition mechanism to promote the values of IAOMAS as a whole and the people associated with us whom embodies these admirable traits.
This award in no way should impede on any one martial art system, or school, or detract from the skills that martial art instructors are attempting to develop in students. It can be used in complement with regular training to build up morale and awareness amongst your membership body, and forms part of the benefit of being a member of IAOMAS.
The Honour Roll occurs every alternate year and carries a theme. The next Honour Roll will occur this year, and will be an exciting exercise for everyone involved. Rules and regulations will be announced on this page in the next quarter. Please look out for it.
Honour Roll 2009
The theme for this year's Honour Roll is 'application.' At the technical level, application is simply to pit a basic techniques against the varied needs of a dynamic physical encounter. But a martial artist is not an automaton; the student practitioner who applies himself/herself trains sensibly to mitigate weaknesses and strives to overcome adversity. This sort of personal application means taking what resources you have and making them produce as much return to you as possible. This is the key for continuing to enjoy martial arts whilst faced with the realities of modern living. 'Application' at an organisational level applies to the value the individual contributes and brings to the whole - similar to how IAOMAS Founder Stuart Anslow visualised the need for a student support organisation in 2002/3 and went on to create the IAOMAS. Do you know individuals like this who continually create more value for themselves and the people around them? In the next quarter we will tell you how to nominate them into the IAOMAS Honour Roll and how to recognise their contribution within your organisation.
